BCLP to Close Hong Kong and Singapore Offices
2025-03-27

Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP) is reportedly planning to close its offices in Hong Kong and Singapore, with an orderly wind down of operations in Asia expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Formed in 2018 through the merger of U.S.-based Bryan Cave and U.K.-based Berwin Leighton Paisner, BCLP had operated more than 30 offices across North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa before beginning its strategic withdrawal from Asia.

In Asia, the firm has primarily focused on advising clients in construction, real estate, infrastructure-related projects, and dispute resolution. It previously maintained offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Singapore. However, the Shanghai and Beijing offices were closed in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

Reportedly, BCLP will shift its strategic focus toward strengthening its transatlantic platform, selectively operating in the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, and the Middle East. The announcement marks the second exit of an international law firm from Asia this month, following Winston & Strawn’s recent decision to withdraw from the region.
